In spring 2020, Evelyn Lee and Je’Nen Chastain partnered with Gābl Media to launch the Practice Disrupted podcast. “The evolution of architectural practice has been relatively slow towards change, yet modern shifts in business and design management have prompted today’s leading architects to rethink how they work.”

Throughout the pandemic and into 2023, the business duo captured the story of an industry in transformation. Evelyn and Je’Nen interviewed over 200 industry and allied leaders, creating a window into the change that was happening in AEC firms and outside the industry.

Common themes discussed on the show include practice management, firm operations, technology, cultural shifts, entrepreneurship, alternative careers, and more.

At the end of season 7, Chastain paused her role as co-host to focus on growing Apostrophe Consulting. The podcast will launch season 9 in the fall of 2024 with Lee as the host under Practice of Architecture. The podcast has achieved 40K+ downloads over seven seasons and continues to grow and evolve in the spirit of innovation, disruption, and change.

what people are saying

This is a great podcast. As a young leader in a multi-office mid-sized architecture firm, these episodes almost always relate directly to the conversations that I am engaged in on a daily basis. It is so refreshing to listen and engage. Thank you, keep up the great work!

Incredibly relevant, engaging and thought-provoking series centered on the practice of architecture, the expanding role of architects and architecture in society, and those most closely involved with redefining the profession

I have a huge respect for Je’Nen and the quality of content that she creates for the architectural community. An experienced professional in the field of architecture herself, she repeatedly identifies core issues and helps advise the community in how to navigate it for a better future together.

Practice Disrupted, the podcast she co-hosts with Evelyn Lee, is where her work particularly stands out. The show is a fantastic resource for those of us in and adjacent to the AEC industry by bringing important issues and voices to the stage. While the episodes themselves are the polished outcome that listeners hear, the work that goes into the production of the podcast is a mountain only a few are willing to climb. As a fellow podcaster I have an immense respect for the true depth of the effort put into creating it. I have no doubt that their audience has gained a tremendous advantage from the knowledge and wisdom shared which is then directly applicable to their career journey and business trajectory in a traditionally difficult field.I recommend Je’Nen’s clear communication, value, and leadership without hesitation. She sets the bar for others to aspire to, and her integrity and contribution to the AEC community is of the highest caliber.
